Students Save Bird of Prey
Two of our students (Tyrone and Harry) had a surprise discovery when out playing at break. A young Sparrowhawk had fallen from its nest and was clearly distressed and in shock.
They immediately made staff aware of the situation and then helped carefully bring the bird into the warmth (and away from predators). Following a phone call to Kirk’s Vets, the young bird was taken into care and placed on a course of antibiotics.
We are now getting daily updates on the bird’s progress and are pleased to announce that it is feeding well and putting on weight. It is hoped that the over time the Sparrowhawk will be released back into the wild to circle the grounds of St George's Academy.
