Sports stars tour the Country

Academy students have been touring the country, performing at a variety of sporting events.

79 students from Years 7 & 8 recently returned from a Netball tournament & Football training programme, run by official FA coaches, held at PGL in Shrewsbury. The students had a wonderful time, and were amazing ambassadors for the Academy. The highlight however was our Year 8 Netball team battling tough competition, compromising of 16 other Year 8 teams, to achieve an outstanding third place.

In the East Midlands Regional Acro & Tumbling Gymnastics competition, held at Priory Ruskin Academy in Grantham, Erin and Louise won first place with a routine they put together themselves. Erin also won first in the solo tumble, and they both now qualify for the National finals, which will be held in May.

Gabrielle, Louise and Niamh competed at the Milano Gymnastics National Team Finals in Stoke-on-Trent, placing an impressive 10th in the country (1st in East Midlands). An amazing achievement.

At the English Schools Cross-Country Champs in Temple Newsam, Leeds, one of our students, Louise won a chance to represent Lincolnshire. Under typical cross-country conditions (hilly, muddy and windy) Louise showed resilience in difficult conditions, made even more impressive given she was one of only a few Year 8s in a field of Year 9s.

We are incredibly proud of all of our students and their hard work and determination. They are great role models to us all and we want to both congratulate them and wish them the best in their future competitions.
