Sporting Success for St George's Academy

St George's Academy sports teams have certainly been busy recently.

First up were our Academy Swimming Team who travelled to Stamford for their first swimming gala. There were some excellent performances seen from Max, Oliver, Ben, Naomi, Luke and Amie. After numerous races and incredibly close finishes, there was only 1 point between the final gala result. Stamford 63 points and St George's 64 points. Well done St George's!

The U13 and U15 Netball Team competed in the DRET invitational competion held at the University of Nottingham. The teams played a full day of Netball scoring over 120 goals between them. Both teams demonstrated some excellent play and just missed out on 1st place, getting 2nd overall and were the DRET invitational runners up - well done girls!

The Anglian Cross Country event was held in Northampton. An outstanding performance from Louise (Year 8), running in the Junior girls category. Louise placed an impressive 23rd and then went on to perform in the EM Gymnastics competition in the same afternoon - wow! We wish Louise the best of luck for the English Schools XCountry competition next month.

Last but by no means least were the East Midlands Gymnastics competion where our students competed in the Regional Floor and Vault competition and the Milano Team competition. The U14 girls Floor and Vault team (Erin, Gabby, Louise, Molli and Niamh) placed an impressive 2nd with a team score of 118.7, missing out on first place by only 0.6 (119.3) out of 11 teams in total. Not only a fantastic team result but out of the 55 U14 girls in the category Erin placed 1st and Louise placed 3rd individually - very well done.

The U13 Girls Milano Acros, Floor and Vault team (Louise, Gabby and Niamh) have qualified through to the Final in Stoke on Trent. Good work and good luck for the next round at the National Finals next month.
