Sixth Form Recruitment Workshop
Louise Plumtree, a School Advisor from Department of Work and Pensions was invited to conduct an interview and assessment centre day for the students as part of their unit on ‘The Recruitment Process’ on the Level 2 Work Skills course.
Louise carried out 1-1 interviews for jobs that they had prepared CVs and cover letters to simulate the application process. These were videoed and the students were given feedback on their individual performance.
All the students then got the opportunity to take part in three assessment centre style activities to observe their communication, listening and thinking skills.
The team activities included building a tower, building a bridge and a final task that required them to fit all their bodies inside 1 piece of A4 paper using a pair of scissors and not allowing any joins/ tears in the paper.
The students excelled themselves with their top class logical thinking skills and completed the task in record time. Well done to all the students involved. They should be very proud of their performance.
