Cyclo-Cross National Championships
Three members of our Academy made it to the recent National Championship Cyclo-Cross Championships in Gravesend, Kent. We had Samuel and Samuel featuring in the Under 16 Boys event, and Amie competing in the Under 16 Girls. With around 150 riders across both age groups, competition was incredibly tough, and they showed incredible stamina throughout.
Samuel and Amie were already winners of this seasons Lincolnshire 2019 Cyclo-Cross league, so this was a chance to go up against the best of Britain.
Cyclo-cross is a form of off-road racing which predates mountain biking. Featuring grass, mud, gravel and sand, throwing hurdles in your path across a gruelling undulating course, this type of racing is certainly intense and not for the faint hearted.
All three of our riders showed great determination and core strength over a challenging 3k course. The race was determined by the number of laps you completed, which included obstacles such as steps, sandpits, bridges and planks.
We are so proud of their achievements, and wish them all best in future races. Well done.
