Continued Success for St George's Athletes!
Recently our athletes entered the first round of the track and field cup and the KSSA District Championships.
First up was the Track and Field cup; the athletes have been training hard since September, trying their very best to improve their times and distances every session. They did not fail to impress us; the determination, resilience and excellence shown from the athletes was exceptional! The competition was a tough field, competing against Lincolnshire schools such as Kesteven and Grantham Girls School, The Priory LSST, The Kings School, Caistor Grammar School and North Kesteven School. However this did not stop our athletes, as the junior girls, junior boys and inter girls teams all came 1st place and the inter boys took a commendable 3rd place. The accumulative points that we achieved was extremely impressive and the most admirable aspect was the support and encouragement that the students gave to one another. Outstanding performances were demonstrated by all of the athletes but the combined track and field points from the following students were truly remarkable:
|Junior Girls||Junior Boys|
|Holly Aslin||40 points in 800m and Long jump||Tom Glendinning||44 points|
|Amie Hatton||39 points in 800m and Shot||Billy Warren||33 points in 200m and Discus|
|Ella Asbrey||35 points in 35 points in 200m and Long jump|
|Jennifer Donnelly||34 points in Hurdles and Shot|
|Inter Girls||Inter Boys|
|Jessica Oates||34 points in 200m and Long jump||Kai Coverly||35 points in 300 and Shot|
|Jessica Edwards||31 points in Hurdles and Long jump||Josh Smith||33 points in 200m and Long jump|
|Emily Bartlett||33 points in 200m and Triple jump||Jamie Scott||34 points in 200m and Javelin|
Next up was the KSSA District Championships; the athletes competed once again with determination and were proud to be representing St George’s Academy. Excellence was demonstrated, personal bests were achieved, and over 20 students made it through to the county round. The PE department are looking forward to see how the talented performers will continue to strive for success!
Well done - a very successful week of athletics!
