Celebrating World Book Day
World Book Day at St George’s Academy just gets better! All members of the school came together to celebrate their love of Literature with a host of activities, throughout the day, including: staff dressed as their favourite book character; members of the leadership team, along with senior students sharing a story-telling session; a special Book Day menu, in the canteen, and a host of games and activities, across all our libraries. A most impressive contribution to the event was made by our hugely talented sixth formers with a brilliant, original rap about the joy of reading which was both admired and appreciated by all.
Year seven and eight are not letting things stop there as they will be joining in with the 200 Million Minutes campaign – attempting to read for as many minutes as possible until the closing date of the 2nd April. It is hoped that this focus on engaging with the written word will inspire St George’s students to make a lifetime commitment to reading for pleasure.
Updates on the campaign will follow in due course.
