Boccia Teams Make National Finals
The Lord Taverners and Boccia England School Regional East Midlands Competition took place last week and St George's Academy were given the great honour of hosting it.
There were some nerve racking matches for the PD team, but it went down to the wire and the final match ending up being between St George's and KGGS. However, with some tactial skills and quick thinking from the captain Tom, this meant a late 6 point advantage, securing the win with an 8-2 victory. The team consisted of Tom (Captain), Milly, Dakota & Emmy.
The PAN competition was very fast paced, and saw our A team win every match with a 24 ball score lead, which is simply amazing! They sailed through, seeing off Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Nottinghamshire schools. The PAN team consisted of Will (Captain) Victoria, Nicole & Chloe. Our B team also came out with an incredible 2nd position, only losing one match to our A team.
They are now through to the National Finals which are to be held in the English Institute of Sport in Sheffield on 30th April, along with the other top 11 schools in the Country. Given that the competition started with over 600 schools taking part, to achieve our 8th National final in a row is a sensational achievement and shows the dedication to train and extend the skills of our teams.
A huge well done to everyone.
