The Importance of the Dress Code
Sleaford Joint Sixth Form operates a Sixth Form Dress Code which is both SMART and FORMAL. The appearance, as well as the conduct, of the Sixth Form students who are highly visible around the town contributes substantially to the reputation of SJSF and positively enhances the employability of all students. The visiting speakers, including universities on a national scale, never fail to be impressed by the smart appearance and mature conduct of our students. The dress code therefore, directly contributes to our destination success rates being well above the national average and in direct contrast to less formal Post 16 providers. Sixth Form students are also role models for the younger students, in the same way that staff are.
The Dress Code
The dress code for Sixth Form students is based on projecting a professional image. To help students, the following guidelines have been drawn up:
Non-practical Subjects:
• Smart suit/jacket and full length trousers, skirt or dress
• Collared shirts, tucked in at all times, with tie or smart blouse or non-revealing top
• Formal shoes with low heels
Term 6 Only
During Term 6 Sixth Form students will not be required to wear a jacket, but should have their jacket with them.
Unacceptable items of clothing:
• No short skirts, bare midriffs or revealing tops
• No open toe shoes
• No denim
• No non-Academy sportswear, including hoodies/trackies/trainers
• No shorts
• No Ugg-style boots
• No extremes of hair as decided by the Principal
• No facial piercings
• Please do not wear excessive jewellery
• Discreet use of mobile phones and iPods is permitted
Practical Subjects:
Construction:
• Navy blue polo shirt with Construction logo
• Navy blue sweatshirt with Construction logo
• Cargo trousers
• Steel toe capped boots
Drama:
• Black Branded quarter zip top
• Black Branded sportwear t-shirt
• Plain Black jogging bottoms (no logo) OR Black sports shorts non branded
Students should only wear the above clothes for the morning or afternoon that they have Drama lessons. They should wear appropriate Sixth Form Uniform when not in Drama lessons.
Sports Studies/Physical Education:
• Navy St. George’s branded quarter zip top
• Navy St. George’s branded sportwear t-shirt
• Plain navy-Blue tracksuit bottoms /shorts or sports leggings (small brand acceptable i.e. Nike tick)

The final decision on the appropriateness of dress, hair and jewellery rests with the Principal and adhering to the dress code is a condition of membership of the Sixth Form.
