Destinations Trip for Year 12 2025

July 27th - Sleaford Joint Sixth Form held a Destinations Trip for all Year 12 students. Students could choose from visiting the University of Nottingham, De Montfort University in Leicester or the Showground in Lincoln.

The 70 students attending the Lincoln visit from St George’s Academy, Carre’s Grammar School and Kesteven & Sleaford High School were hosted by Riseholme College staff, Paul Jones from AG&I, Jason Clark from LincHigher and Lizzie Rundle and Nicola Hayward from Priory Academies. Students took part in 3 different workshops, including degree apprenticeships, the use of social media for promoting personal branding, finding an apprenticeship and team building.

Feedback at the end of the day was overwhelmingly positive with students saying they had learned a lot and would use the information they gained going forward into Year 13 and beyond.

Students quoted: ‘There is a big difference between university and apprenticeship paths and there are a lot of opportunities available’ and ‘the mock assessment centre taught me a lot about what employers are looking for in an employee’ and ‘it was useful to find out how apprenticeships work and their advantages and the importance of using social media to market myself, particularly LinkedIn’

Y10 Futures Week 2025

June 2rd-6th - Year 10 Futures Week took place at both campuses with a wide variety of talks and workshops designed to inform and inspire. Students started the week with a session with Luke Staton, a motivational speaker and life coach followed by talks and activities from Sleaford Joint Sixth Form staff about studying their subject and related career paths. We also had outside speakers come in to give an insight into their career path, Lincolnshire Police, Currys, Access Creative College, Anglian Water,. Possibly the most challenging activity for students were the Elevator pitches – students were asked to prepare a 3 minute presentation all about themselves – their hobbies, interests, plans and dreams. There were plenty of nerves beforehand but afterwards the vast majority of students said how much they enjoyed it. One of the visitors we invited in to listen to these pitches said ‘The event was a roaring success in my opinion. I thoroughly enjoyed meeting such interesting, engaging young people, who were a credit to the school’. Futures Week was a great success with extremely positive feedback from both students and visitors.
